Robert Y. Dorwart, 79 of Scottsbluff, and former Sidney resident, passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 23, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff.

Cremation has been held. Memorial services will be at a later date with Military Graveside Honors in the Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bob's name to the St. Patrick's Catholic Church or the Night of Hope.

Robert Yule Dorwart, the son of Thomas Yule and Virginia Florentine (Greene) Dorwart, was born on Dec. 25, 1933 at Philadelphia, Pa. Following the death of his mother Virginia, his father married Ellen Vaughn and she helped raise Bob and his siblings. Bob later graduated from Lexington High School and attended Creighton University before joining the United States Army and served in Germany. Following his military service Bob returned to Nebraska and graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in Zoology. With a passion to attend Medical School, Bob returned to Germany and ended up traveling the world several times over. Following residency in California for nearly twenty years, Bob made his home in Sidney for the next twenty years and has lived in Scottsbluff for the past seven years.

Bob was an avid reader, enjoyed philosophy, traveling, was an accomplished baseball player in his younger years and held an associate membership of the Cheyenne County Sweetcorn Club.

Survivors include (1) brother: Tom Dorwart and wife Pat of Sidney; (1) sister: Suzanne Wolfe and husband (Tony) of San Luis Obispo, Cali. and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents: Thomas and Virginia and his step-mother: Ellen.
