Donald L. Moore, 93 of Gurley, formerly of Gering, passed away December 7th at the Sidney Regional Medical Center, after suffering a stroke on Thanksgiving eve.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Thurs., Dec. 12, 2013 in the First Christian Church in Sidney with Pastor Mark Zalesky officiating. Inurnment with military rites will be in the West Lawn Cemetery in Gering at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials have been established to the First Christian Church in Sidney.

Cremation has taken place and there is no visitation at the funeral home.

Don was born Feb. 18, 1920 in Gering to Orin W. and Amey (Baker) Moore. He graduated from Gering High School in 1938. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for a year and a half, was inducted into the Army in July 1942 and discharged in May 1943 to help run the family Dairy Operation with his father which he did for 30 years. He worked at Dalton Auto Center for 25 years.

Don belonged to the First United Methodist Church of Gering and taught Sunday school for 26 years.

In 1945 Don married Rubye Smith at Mitchell, Neb. Born to this union James and Janice. Rubye died in 1979. He married Genevieve Geick in 1980 and she died in 2001. He married Marvel Freudenberg at Gurley on Sept 27, 2003. Don enjoyed the Sugar Valley Rally and his 1937 Oldsmobile. He loved talking about cars and their workings.

Don is survived by his wife Marvel of Gurley, daughter Janice (Mike) Chrisman of McGrew, daughter-in-law Ann Moore of Gering; Grand children Kevin (Lisa) Moore, Michelle (Matt) Oetken , A.J.(Michelle) Moore, Tracey Rahmig; great grandchildren Henry, Bennett, Quintin Oetken, Jayla and Brayden Moore and Rusty, Teagan, Austin Rahmig; step-son Richard (Kay) Freudenberg, step daughters Jeanette (Bill) Jackson, Bernice Russell, foster step-son Randy (Marlene) Rohde. Step grand-children Rodney (Nancy) Russell, Bryan Russell, Janese (Harold) Travis, Jennifer (Dee J) Hellie; step great grandchildren Amanda (Rob) Reiley, Sheena (Ryan) Jenson, Riita and Zach Hellie; step great great grandchildren Andric Grant, Nora and Leah Jenson. Niece Lois Ann Robbins and nephew Larry Robbins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives Ruby and Genevieve, son James Moore and twin sister Evelyn Robbins.
