Jared R. Stecher, 69 of Potter, passed away at his home with his family by his side Thursday, December 5, 2013.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Sat., Dec. 14th in the Prairie West Church in Potter with Rev. Betsy Galloway-Carew officiating. Services will conclude at the church with private family inurnment. Friends are asked to attend the reception at Bags' Bar following the services.

Cremation has been held. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Friday to sign Jared's register book and drop off condolences for the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jared's name to the Potter Fire Department or Potter Rescue Unit.

Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Jared's care and funeral arrangements.

Jared Ray Stecher, son of Stanley Joseph "Joey" and Lorrayne (Slama) Stecher, was born March 8, 1944 in Sidney. Jared grew up in Potter and attended Prairie View Country School and graduated Potter High School in 1962. He was a farmer for most of his life and was a kind and generous man who enjoyed helping others.

On Aug. 9, 1974, Jared married Sharon Berardi, formerly of Florence, Colo. in Las Vegas, NV.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years: Sharon; (2) sons: Jamie and wife Sherri of Webster, TX, and Jake of Sidney; (1) daughter: Stacy Garrison and husband Joey of Westmoreland, Tenn.; (3) grandchildren: Braden, Grant and Desiree; (1) brother-in-law: Daniel Schoenecke of Golden, Colo.; (2) nieces: Cindy (Landree) Snyder of Arvada and Rhonda Snyder of West Minster, Calif.; step-father-in-law: Jerry Cox from Canon City, Colo. and numerous relatives and friends.

Jared was preceded in death by his father and mother: Joey and Lorrayne; grandparents: Les and Ethel Stecher and Bill and Ethel Slama; (1) brother: Jay; father-in-law: Donald Berardi; mother-in-law: Evelyn Berardi Cox and sister-in-law: Stephanie Schoenecke.
