Central students use technology in unique pen pal program

On Wednesday, Judy Roach's fourth grade class at Central Elementary School met up with their pen pal, face to face.

Well, sort of. Roach's class participates in the Nebraska Ag in the Classroom's Ag Pen Pal Program, which has advanced beyond the old method of communication.

Roach's classroom was paired up with Jeff Huffman, a farmer in Maxwell. Huffman and Roach used technology to update the notion of pen pals. They use Skype and FaceTime via iPads to communicate and allow the students to ask questions. The class still writes letters as it is a state standard to do so, but it is much easie...
