Peetz falls at home

Despite 15 points from Melissa Schumacher, the Peetz Bulldogs slipped to 4-2 after falling to district opponent Prairie 33-23 at Carlile Gymnasium Saturday.

The Mustangs overcame a narrow 2 point halftime deficit to stay undefeated at 6-0 on the season. Prairie is 1-0 in district play while Peetz is at 1-1.

The Bulldogs received scoring from only three sources, as Beth Bernhardt with 6 points and Mallori Bjerke were the only other ‘Dogs to score. Schumacher’s total led all scorers.

As a team, Peetz struggled with their field goal shooting as they hit just 7 of 38 shots. Schumacher was the only Bulldogs player to reach the foul line where she hit 7 of 8 shots.

The trio of scorers, Schumacher, Bernhardt and Bjerke each tied for the team lead with 5 rebounds. Bailey Lewis had a pair of assists and Schumacher and Bernhardt each had 2 steals.

Peetz returns to the floor in January, when they travel to Chappell to take on a challenging Creek Valley team.
