Cabela's to renew scholarship program

Four ladies graduating from Nebraska high schools this spring will receive $10,000 scholarships from Cabela’s in collaboration with the Harry and Reba Huge Foundation.

These Women in Leadership scholarships are part of the local company’s goal to encourage more women in management positions. This is the second year for the scholarships. Only females graduating from Nebraska high schools and planning to attend college this fall are eligible.

“We are pleased to continue the Cabela’s Women in Leadership Scholarship program,” said Sue Saathoff, vice president at Cabela’s in a press statement. “Our partnership with the Huge Foundation has been a truly collaborative effort toward the common goal of enhancing the future of talented, deserving young women.”

Recipients will receive $2,500 a year for four years, as well as opportunities for mentoring from females in the company and possible internships with Cabela’s.

Applications are due March 10 and are available through the ScholarshipQuest website, educationquest.org or through the Harry and Reba Huge Foundation website, thehugefoundation.org.

“These are extraordinary scholarships,” said Jack Siemsen, president and CEO of the Harry and Reba Huge Foundation in a press statement. “They not only provide substantial financial support to these very deserving young women but they also open doors to special leadership opportunities within the Cabela’s organization. This includes the chance to be mentored by professionals at Cabela’s as well as receive educational and career counseling through both Cabela’s and the Huge Foundation.”
