School board hopes to partner with city to cover projects associated with planned new school

Members of Sidney’s school board approached the city council last week, hoping to share costs on projects associated with the new elementary building, should the measure meet with voter approval.

The $16.95 bond issue returns to the ballot as part of the May 13 primaries. The school board hopes to replace three aging elementary buildings—North, South and Central—with a single, modern facility to house a growing K-4 population. Residents previously rejected the proposal by a narrow margin of 105 votes in September of 2013.
