Contract awarded for Greenwood Rd. project

The city received two bids for the box culvert project on Greenwood Rd. During last week’s city council meeting the board voted unanimously in favor of the lowest bid.

While Infinity Construction submitted at total of $162,561 for the project, Paul Reed Construction & Supply came in significantly higher, with an estimate of $220,284.

The figure guiding the city’s decision was in the $181,000 range.

Infinity Construction noted that the delivery of steel reinforcement may affect the completion date, planned for the end of March. The time from notice for fabrication and delivery of steel for the culvert could take 15 working days. Any delays in the official notice to proceed could affect completion date.

“I have spoken with the contractor” Donald Dye, representing the firm of M.C. Schaff & Associates assured the council after assessing the bids, as long as bid awarded Jan. 28 “he feels as though delivery of the steel should not affect the completion date significantly,”

M.C. Schaff & Associates advised the city in this process. The firm recommended the low bid.
