John Tracy Sparks, 71, of Peetz passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014 in Peetz. 

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Sat., Feb. 22 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Reverend Bradley Heinecke officiating. 

John was born on Sept. 13, 1942 in St. Louis, Mo. to Raymond Roy and Bernice Anna (Tergerson) Sparks.  He went to elementary and high school in Plano, TX.  He graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas with his BS in 1965 and MS in 1966.  He was an electrical engineer in Dallas and Ft. Collins and Boulder until 1994.  He was then a software consultant in Ft. Collins from 1994 to 2002.  He was married to Carol Ann (Kittel) Sparks.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sidney.  He enjoyed many things including: scripture, astronomy, agriculture, and traveling. He was a co-author of a 2013 book, Acts and Miracles of God.  He worked on the ERBE Satellite that was launched by the late Dr. Sally Ride from the Challenger Space Shuttle in 1984.

He is survived by his wife Carol Ann Sparks and sister Barbara Ellen Sparks of Dallas.

He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Bernice.
