David Charles Ross – 1938 to 2014

David Charles Ross, 75, of Peetz passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at his home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 pm Friday, April 4 at Tennant Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sat., April 5 at the Peetz Community Church. Private family interment will be on Sat., April 5.

David was born on Nov. 28, 1938 in Sidney, to Leslie and Edith (George) Ross. He grew up on a farm near Peetz and graduated from the Peetz High School in 1957. He attended Colorado State University and Northeastern Junior College. On July 6, 1958 he married Deanna Herboldsheimer. They moved to Cody, Neb. where David worked on a ranch and then moved to a ranch south of Valentine, Neb.

They moved back to Peetz in 1960 and then moved out to the farm and ranch in 1961 where they have continued to live. David was an active crop adjuster for 25 years. The last sixteen years he worked for Great American Insurance Company, as an adjuster and supervisor David was a strong student of the Word and approached faith from a pragmatic stance. Part of the heritage that David passed onto his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was knowing God and having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He pastored the Methodist Church in Carpenter, Wyoming for almost ten years. He enjoyed filling the pulpit for numerous churches in the area.

David enjoyed working and tried to retire once but couldn't stand it so he continued to work, and work was his hobby. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brother, Claude, and his dad in his younger years. He also loved his horse, ranching, and working with cattle.

David is survived by his wife, Deanna; his children, Dirk Ross (Kyoko) of Tokyo, Japan, Denise Brammer (K.C.) of Haxtun, Danelle Mertens (Jim) of New Raymer, DeVonne Glastetter (Ray) of Jackson, Mo.; sisters Mary Jo Ruhter (Jack) of Cheyenne, Wyo., Jane Aikin (Don) of Las Vegas, Nev., Millie Westphalen (Vernon) of Peetz; brother, Claude Ross (Elizabeth) and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Ross of Sterling; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his Great American family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Richard, grandson, Alexandar Ross, great-granddaughter, Hope Danielle Allen, and two nephews, Steven Ruhter and Brian Aikin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the David Ross Memorial Fund in care of Tennant Funeral Home, PO Box 1547, Sterling, CO 80751.
