1929 to 2014

Lloyd Sherman, 84, of Grand Island died April 10, 2014 at the Grand Island Veteran Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Mon., April 14, 2014 at the Shelton United Methodist Church with the Reverend Melody Adams officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior services at the church.

Interment will be in the in Shelton Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Army National Guard Honors Team in conjunction with the American Legion Post. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Online condolences may be submitted to http://www.osrfh.com. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Gibbon.

Lloyd was born Oct. 12, 1929 in Springview, Neb. He grew up in Brown County, Neb. Lloyd entered the Army, Jan. 3, 1952 and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged Dec. 12, 1953. He was united into marriage to Betty Ahl on April 15 in Broken Bow. The couple lived in Shelton where he was employed by the Missouri Valley and Beatrice Construction Companies. He was a member of the Shelton Methodist Church, and loved hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his son, Brad Sherman and wife Michelle of Sidney; brothers, Morris and wife Betty Sherman of Brule, and Don Sherman of O’Neil; sister, Marie and husband Erwin Keim of Ainsworth; sisters-in-law, Hap Hinkle of Columbus, OH, Helen Sherman of Ainsworth, and June Sherman of Brule; 3 grandchildren, Trinity, Logan and Zackary.

He was preceded in death by his wife; brothers, Kenneth, Harold, Howard Sherman.
