Leona Mae Bahr, the daughter of Jacob George and Elizabeth Ann (Deines) Hart, was born on Feb. 19, 1929 in Briggsdale, Colo. Lee was baptized as a child and accepted the Lord and baptized by immersion in March of 1983 at the First Christian Church in Sidney. She attended school in Keota, Colo. and later graduated from Greeley High School where she excelled as a student and as a basketball player. She loved telling stories of her childhood and working at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park. Lee met John W. Bahr at a dance in Lodgepole and they were later married on Oct. 4, 1947 in Sidney. They moved to Sidney and Lee quickly became the neighborhood barber. When Lee wasn't busy being a homemaker, she worked at a variety of jobs, but none so satisfying as helping her husband in his painting business. She took great pride in her work, her home and her immaculate lawn which was the envy of the neighborhood.

Other than her children and grandchildren, cooking, baking, pickling and dancing were her passion. Her oatmeal chocolate chip cookies were some of the best! Her hobbies included playing Scrabble, canning and gardening.

Survivors include her four children: Donna Bahr (Jerald Rains), Jodene Houser (Greg), Lori Borchert (Mike) and John A. Bahr all of Sidney; son-in-law: Ron Balsom of Casper, Wyo., one sister: Betty Hurst; three brothers: Don Hart (Jenny), John Hart (Verna) and George Hart (Lois), brother-in-law: Carroll Gerber and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members.

Lee was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: John; daughter: Cynthia Balsom; grandson: Paul Ernest; two sisters: Marian Dotson (Jim) and Barbara Gerber and brother-in-law: Howard Hurst.
