2014 SUMMER READING PROGRAM THEME

Readers of all ages will explode with fun as we celebrate science at the Sidney Public Library’s “Fizz Boom Read!” summer reading program. The 2014 Summer Reading program is open to young people, age 2 through young adult with programs, science experiments, storytimes, prize drawings, and much more. An adult reading program will also be offered. Registration for “Fizz, Boom, Read!” begins on Friday, May 30 at the Sidney Youth Center (14th and King), 6:30 in

19th Annual John Wright Memorial Strawberry Moon Golf Tournament

Prairie Pines Golf Course in Potter. The 14 team, 4 person scramble will tee off at 3 p.m. for daylight round, break for a meal, then golf the second round at dusk with glow balls. Golf cart rentals are limited,

Sullivan Hills Camp Classic

The Camp Classic Golf Tournament on June 21st includes 18 holes of golf, lunch, flag prizes, gift bag and the meal and awards ceremony that immediately follows. There is a fee. Sullivan Hills Quilt Auction

All are welcome! Beautifully quilted and tied quilts donated by individuals and congregations from across Nebraska. The day includes community worship service, quilts on display a potluck lunch with the quilt auction. The auction and potluck will be held rain or shine. Bring your friends and families. Please bring your own table service, a dessert, salad or vegetable to share and a chair. The main entrée and beverages will be provided. All proceeds go to programs of Sullivan Hills Camp. Community Worship Service – 10:30 a.m.

Quilts on Display — 11 a.m.

Potluck lunch — Noon

• TUESDAY, JUNE 10 – Lunch at Petrie Dish Park – All Ages – 12:00 Bring a sack lunch and listen to stories.

Investigation Stations – All Ages – 2:00 - Children will participate in a variety of experiments involving different sciences. Stations include earth, life, and natural sciences – math also included.

• WEDNESDAY, JUNE 11 – Bubble Buddies Toddler Time – Children ages 2 & 3 – 10:30 – Story and fingerplays.

• THURSDAY, JUNE 12 – Color Chaos – Children PS (Age 3) – 1st grade 10:00 & 11:15 – Story about color – children will learn that by combining colors we can make new ones.

Investigation Stations – All Ages – 2:00.

• TUESDAY, JUNE 17 – Lunch at Petrie Dish Park – All Ages – 12:00 – Bring a sack lunch and listen to stories.

• WEDNESDAY, JUNE 18 – Bubble Buddies Toddler Time – Children ages 2 & 3 – 10:30 – Story and fingerplays.

• THURSDAY, JUNE 19 – The Scoop on Gloop – Children ages 2nd – 3rd grade – 10:00 & 11:15 - Story – Bartholomew and the Oobleck – youth will make “oobleck” or gloop and discuss some of the science that goes with the project.

• TUESDAY, JUNE 24 – Lunch at Petrie Dish Park – All Ages – 12:00 – Bring a sack lunch and listen to stories.

• THURSDAY, JUNE 26 – Kaleidoscope Krazy – Youth 4th – 6th grade – 10:30 – Discussion of light and making a kaleidoscope to take home.

• FRIDAY, JUNE 27 – Einstein’s Megatronic Cosmic Café – All Ages –(Younger children will need to be accompanied by parent.) – 10:30 – This is a mystery lunch. (Even Einstein took time out to eat.) Participants choose items for their meal; however the items may not be what they thought. This is a test of imagination and innovation on the part of the participants.
