1945 to 2014

Barbara Farthing, 68 of Kearney and former Sidney resident, passed away Wednesday morning June 18, 2014 in the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 23rd in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Hyde officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Monday from 9 a.m. until noon.

Memorial contributions may be made in Barbara's name to the church.

Barbara Faye Farthing, the daughter of Curtis Melvin Sr. and Pearl (Goodon) Adams was born on June 29, 1945 at Chicago, Ill. She attended schools in Clarkton, Mo. and later married Jack Harmon and they had five children together. The family moved to Kimball in the early 1970s. Barb was united in marriage to Charles Farthing on Feb. 21, 1985 at Ratliff City, Okla. Following a move to Sidney in the mid-1980s, Barb began working at Cabela's.

Survivors include her children: Sherry Moreno and husband Salvador of Rock Springs, Wyo., John Harmon and wife Janie of Bentonville, Ark., James Harmon and wife Erika of Sidney, Connie Heuck and husband Ron of Kearney and Dewayne Farthing and wife Sarah of Casper, Wyo .; her siblings: Linda Turner of Sidney, Ann McPherson of Corpus Cove, TX, James Adams of Dexter, Mo., Ronnie Cato and wife Imogene of Blytheville, Mo., Roy Adams and wife Rebecca of Corpus Cove, TX, Iris Putney and husband Sam of Petersburg, Va., Sharon Nutall and husband Jeff of Marlo, Okla. and Dorothy Brown and husband Gerald of Lawton, Okla., numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members

Barb was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Chuck Farthing; son: Jackie; great-grandson: Raymond Heuck; brother: Melvin Adams and sister: Alena Viverette.
