Jon Alexander Butler Finney was born Oct. 3, 1947, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Paul James and Emily Finney and his beautiful spirit departed on June 25, 2014.

Jon was an architect, master carpenter, journeyman electrician, master plumber, and an environmental application engineer. He took pride in his work, perfecting every task he completed. During his early career days, Jon designed and built homes. While owning the hardware store for twenty-four years, he enjoyed sharing his knowledge with customers.

Jon's proudest accomplishment was finding his wife and best friend Patricia. Through this union, they had their daughter Heather and son Shawn. Jon was a very dedicated husband and father.

Jon served his country by being a military police officer in the Army and was also an honorary member of the Arctic Brotherhood-Camp Skagway, Alaska.

Jon's mother requested that he continue her tradition of sending Christmas care packages; he sent out over fifty a year. He understood the appreciation of giving.

Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife Patricia; daughter Heather; brother Paul (Judi) of Fremont, sister Judie of Topeka, Kan., and nephews.

Greeting him is son Shawn and his parents Paul and Emily Finney.

With his courage, Jon led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. Thank you for the life path you left for us to follow.
