Serving proudly since 1873 as the beautiful Nebraska Panhandle's first newspaper

Langrell named Sun-Telegraph publisher

Rob Langrell has been named the new publisher of The Sidney Sun-Telegraph.

He will also serve as regional director of weekly newspaper operations for the Western Nebraska Observer and the Pine Bluffs (Wyo.) Post.

"We're excited to be able to bring in a newspaper man with the credentials and abilities of Rob to our community, and are excited to see what he can do with the paper in this vibrant time of growth in Sidney," said owner Gary Stevenson. "We hope he and his family find our community a welcoming and supportive home for years to come."

Langrell, 45, accepted the position after spending the last 18½ years in Las Vegas. He served as the editor of special publications for newspaper and magazine division of the Greenspun Media Group for the past 10 years and was the assistant sports editor of the Las Vegas Sun newspaper – also a part of the media group -- from 1996-2004.

Prior to that, Langrell served in various newspaper roles, including time as the managing editor of the Delaware State News and sports editor of the Gaston (N.C.) Gazette, Burlington (N.C.) Times-News and Corning (N.Y.) Leader.

"I am truly looking forward to all of the opportunities ahead of us at the Sun-Telegraph," Langrell said. "Sidney is growing by leaps and bounds and it's great to be in a position to follow and report on all of the great things happening here."

Langrell is a 1990 graduate of Saint Louis (Mo.) University, where he majored in communications.

"The staff at the Sun-Telegraph is a great, hard-working group," Langrell added. "We want to make the Sun-Telegraph relevant and at the forefront for every resident of Sidney and the surrounding communities. We want to make sure the paper is something readers look forward to picking up every day, full of news, features and more that are all important to the local communities.

"I'm looking forward to a new adventure in Sidney for myself and my family," he said. "In just the first week, so many people have been friendly and welcoming. I'm confident that this is a great place to live and raise a family."

Langrell moved to Sidney with his wife, Tina, and their two sons. Connor is a freshman at Sidney High School and Garrett is an 8th grader at Sidney Middle School. The couple also has two daughters – Megan, who graduated from college this past May and resides in San Diego, and Caitlin, who is a senior at Columbia (S.C.) College.

He can be reached via email at [email protected] or at (308) 254-2818.
