Hawkins' named as "For Peetz Sake Parade" marshals

Wayne and Georgia Hawkins have been named the marshals for the 2014 "For Peetz Sake Parade." Interestingly, they follow in the footsteps of Wayne's parents, Delbert and Velma Hawkins, who previously served as parade marshals.

Wayne and Georgia have lived in Peetz since they were married June 6, 1964. Wayne is a lifelong Peetz resident, while Georgia was born in Sidney and resided there until their marriage.

The couple has four children: Bryan Hawkins, who lives in Oakland, Calif.; Rhonda (husband, Jim) Lenzen of Sidney; Jill (husband, Daniel) Beck of Blackfoot, Idaho; and Duane (wife, Kelli) Hawkins of rural Peetz. Jill and Daniel have four daughters, while Duane and Kelli have a boy and a girl who both attend Peetz School.

Wayne farmed with his father and worked various jobs in the winter. Later, he took on a full-time position at Peetz School and worked there for 25 1/2 years until his retirement. While working at the school, Wayne created bonds with both students and staff.

Georgia worked for the phone company in Sidney before her marriage to Wayne and continued working full-time until Rhonda was born. She worked some part-time while raising her kids. Later, she worked for Tuf Wear and Cabela's in Sidney. The couple enjoys to travel and spend time with family.
