Woman jailed for trying to choke hubby

A Sidney woman is in custody for threatening to kill her husband and choking him during an argument on Wednesday.

Diane Willis, 49, was charged with strangulation and terroristic threatening – both class IV felonies. She is being held on $10,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is Oct. 14 at 10 a.m.

According to court documents, Sidney Police responded to a disturbance at an apartment on Ash Street. The caller had told dispatchers that his wife had threatened to kill him, that she was bi-polar and that she wasn’t taking her medications.

When the officer arrived, the husband answered the door and told the officer that Willis had said she “was going to kill him” and then grabbed him around his throat, according to court records. There was also another person present who had witnessed the incident, police said.

If convicted, Willis faces a sentence of up to 10 years in prison on the two charges.
