1938 to 2014

Doris M. Frerichs, 75 of Sidney and longtime Gurley area resident, passed away at the Sidney Regional Medical Center Extended Care, Wed., Oct. 22, 2014.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Tues., Oct. 28th in the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel with Pastor Leon "Bud" Gillespie officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home. Cremation will follow with private family inurnment to be held at a later date.

Doris Mae Frerichs, the daughter of Merle and Annie P. (Trettenero) Smith, was born on Nov. 27, 1938 at Sterling. She moved to Sidney as a child and graduated from Sidney High School. On June 16, 1957 Doris was united in marriage to Dareld Dean Frerichs and made their home east of Huntsman. Following a move to California for five years they returned to a farm east of Dalton in 1966. They moved to what would become the family farm east of Gurley in 1972. Doris worked at the Dalton Café before joining the Cabela's Distribution Center as an auditor. When Doris wasn't at work she was active on the farm and with her cooking. She enjoyed square dancing, playing cards and playing the accordion.

Survivors include: (2) sons: Douglas Frerichs and wife Jarma of Gurley, NE and Jeffrey Richardson and wife Gari-lyn of Colton, Calif .; (3) grandsons: Chase Frerichs and Cody and Joshua Richardson; sister: Deloris Barnhart, sister-in-law: Dorothy Frerichs; brothers-in-law: Arthur Frerichs and wife Billie and Allen Frerichs and wife Sharon and numerous extended family members and friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband in 2010, her parents, her parents-in-law: Ernest and Esther Frerichs, sister: Norma Kaufman and brothers-in-law: Walter Kaufman, Roy Barnhart and Gene Frerichs.
