Sidney wrestlers win three titles, finish 3rd as team

Peckham, Robb and Nieto win at Gordon-Rushville

The Sidney High School wrestling team took third place among 14 teams at the Gordon-Rushville Invite on Saturday.

Colton Peckham, Derek Robb and Ryan Nieto all brought home championships in their respective weight classes for the Red Raiders.

Peckham won the title at 113 pounds, defeating Valentine's Cody McBride 5-4 in the finals. At 138 pounds, Robb pinned Hay Springs' Chris Ray in 4:55 to win the title. At 152, Nieto decisioned Valentine's DJ Stephen 4-2 in the finals.

Valentine won the team title with 179 points, while Chadron (129.5 points) was second, Sidney (129) was third and Gordon-Rushbille (82) was fourth.

For Sidney, Michael Muggli took second at 145 pounds, losing an 8-4 decision to Valentine's Jacob Hand in the finals.

Kaden Vowers (106) and Dominic Beyer (285) both collected third-place finishes. Teammates Jack Feddersen (126), Zach Borges (160), Patrick Hays (170) and Brandon Lulf (195) all finished fourth in their respective weight classes.

In junior varsity matches, Sidney collected four titles.

Devin Schilz (113), Logan Sherman (132), Koby Haas (152) and Colden Harrison (170) all won titles. Aaron Crawford (170) and Kade Price (182) both placed second, while Brody Sutton (285) was third.

Sidney returns to the mats on Thursday night when it travels to Garden County.
