E. Marion (Nelson) Jacobs

1912 to 2015

E. Marion (Nelson) Jacobs age 102 of Plattsmouth, Neb. passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 at her residence.

Marion was born on Dec. 3, 1912 to Vernon Anker and Mary Sophie (Larson) Nelson at her family’s home in rural Potter. She was raised and schooled in Potter and graduated from Potter High School with the class of 1928. After high school, she attended Pratt Business College in Hastings. Marion started working in Clay Center, where she met Robert “Bob” Edward Jacobs and they were later married on March 26, 1932 in Overland, Kan. Marion and Bob made their home in Elsie, Neb. until 1936 when they moved to Plattsmouth, Neb. In 1941, Marion and Bob moved to and lived in Philadelphia, Pa. until 1944, when they returned to Plattsmouth and worked at Jacobs Cafe. In 1945, they moved to the family farm on Horning Road, where they owned and operated their Grade “A” Dairy Farm until 1965 when they retired. After retiring, Marion and Bob spent the next twenty years traveling the world. Marion was farmwife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Plattsmouth.

Marion is survived by her daughter: Karen Weaver and husband Walt of Plattsmouth, six grandchildren: Daniel Vernon Jacobs, Scott Henry Jacobs, Susan Kay Jacobs-Meadows and husband Michael Meadows, Dr. Walter Robert Weaver and wife Dr. Deborah Weaver, William Bruce Weaver and wife Sharon, Warren Thomas Weaver and wife Jennifer, eight great grandchildren: Adam Meacham, Robert S. Jacobs, John T. Jacobs, Sarah K. Weaver, Christopher S. Weaver, Erin Mae Weaver, Erika Berger, Sosha Berger, great great granddaughter: Scout Meacham, two sisters: Delores Shanholtz of Plattsmouth, Carol Spencer of Gering, brother: Kermit Nelson and wife Marjorie of Dalton, two sisters-in-law: June Jacobs of Elkhorn, Neb., Werdna Nelson of Sterling, Colo., numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

She was preceded in death her parents: Vernon and Mary Nelson, son: Captain Bruce Vernon Jacobs, husband: Robert Jacobs, three brothers: Chauncey Nelson, Virgil Nelson, Warren Nelson, and sister: Mildred Terman.

Final Resting Place will be at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Plattsmouth.

The family suggests memorials to the Plattsmouth Rescue Squad.
