Cheyenne County Spelling Bee set for Wednesday

Students from Sidney Middle School, West and North elementary schools, Potter-Dix and Leyton will compete in the Cheyenne County Spelling Bee on Wednesday.

They will compete in the auditorium at West Elementary beginning at 12:45 p.m. The winner advances to represent Cheyenne County in the State Spelling Bee in Omaha on March 14.

The 24 local students participating are:

• Sidney Middle School: Taighlor Arnett, Colin Crauer, Salena Petluri, Zach Pettit, Sophie Price, Kassidy Raines

• West/North Elementary: Hannah Ernst, Cauyer Glanz, Charlie Hartman, Meghana Nakkanti, Ava Sykora, Leigha Wachtel

• Potter-Dix: Erica Bogert, Ginny Herboldsheimer, Zach Rotert, Austen Rozelle, Shawn Saggoner, Damian Wheelock

• Leyton: Jonathan Borges, D.J. George, Brayden Haley, Kaitlyn Jones, Dominick Russ, Hannah Vath

Petluri, a seventh-grader at Sidney Middle School, has won the Cheyenne County Spelling Bee title the past two consecutive years and will be competing for the crown again this year.
