Missoula Theatre brings 'Wizard of Oz' to Sidney

Local students cast as lions, tigers and bears

With costumes, lines, sets, props and makeup, Theresa Egloff and Chris Wilkinson – the Missoula Children's Theatre touring actors and directors – arrived in Sidney to cast local students for roles in the production of "The Wizard of Oz."

On Monday, more than 150 local students met in the Sidney High School auditorium to audition for roles in the theatre's production of the play, which was made possible by the Sidney High Plains Art Council.

The cast includes: Dorothy, Toto, the Lion, the Tin Man, the witches, the Wizard, the Green Guard, the Munchkins, the Winkies, the Magicians, the Fierce and Ferocious Flowers and assistant director.

Egloff and Wilkinson will conduct rehearsals of 50 to 60 students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade for four hours every day after school until the performances on Friday and Saturday.

Students will perform two student shows for all students in kindergarten through 8th grade on Friday. A public performance will be held on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Sidney High auditorium.
