Vowers, Peckham and Muggli will try to battle back in consolation rounds

Undefeated Sidney High School freshman Derek Robb won both of his matches at 138 pounds on Thursday at the Nebraska State Wrestling Championships in Omaha.

He pinned Levi Heilig of Boys Town in 49 seconds in the opening round and pinned Ashland-Greenwood's Cody Lambert in 3:29 in the quarterfinals. The two wins improved his record to 43-0 this season.

At 106 pounds, freshman Kaden Vowers pinned Jason Kubicka of Adams Central in 3:07 in the first round, but lost an 18-4 major decision to Van Schmidt of Omaha Skutt Catholic in the quarterfinals.

The Red Raiders' other two state qualifiers – freshman Colton Peckham at 113 and senior Michael Muggli at 145 – both lost their opening-round bouts. Peckham was pinnned by West Point-Beemer's Riley Berg in 27 seconds, while Muggli dropped a 15-11 decision to Plattsmouth's Kole Gray.
