Sidney's Castner takes 9th at state speech competition

Sidney High School's Will Castner finished ninth in the Extemporaneous Speaking category at the 2015 Nebraska Class B State Speech meet on Thursday.

Castner was the only Red Raider who had qualified for the competition, held at the University of Nebraska-Kearney. His ninth-place finish was among 17 other Class B competitors.

In all, more than 35 schools competed.

Class D District speech champions, Potter-Dix, competes in Kearney on Friday. The Coyotes sent two teams and eight individuals to the Nebraska Class D State Speech Meet.
