Free preschool screening scheduled in Peetz

PEETZ, Colo. – Northeast Colorado BOCES, in conjunction with Plateau School District RE-5 and Northeast Colorado Health Department, will be offering free developmental screening to children ages 6 months through 5 years – children who won’t attend kindergarten next year.

Children living in the Peetz area can be screened on Friday, April 10 from 1-3 p.m. at Little Bulldogs Preschool. Call the school at (970) 334-2361 to schedule an appointment

The screening will briefly evaluate the areas of language, gross and fine motor, pre-academic development, hearing and other medical needs. Bring the child’s immunization records with you to the Child Find.

Children identified as having needs that could affect later school performance may be eligible for special services through Northeast Colorado BOCES. These services are offered in a variety of community settings designed to meet the needs of preschool aged children. Involvement in a program is not mandatory after participating in the screen and is not provided without parental consent.

Children under 3 can be screened on an individual basis. For more information, call Early Childhood Coordinator at Haxtun BOCES Office at (970) 774-6152.
