1939 to 2015

Gary D. Meier, 75 of Sterling, passed away Tues., April 7, 2015. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Thurs., April 9 at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Fri., April 10 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Michelle D. Witherspoon officiating and interment at Peetz Cemetery.

Gary was born Oct. 5, 1939 in Englewood, Colo. to Edgar and Merna Crow Meier. He graduated from Peetz High School and continued his education at NJC. Gary was a lifelong farmer and rancher in the Peetz community.

He married NaDean Bules on Aug. 16, 1959 in Sterling. They were married for fifty-five years.

While living in Peetz, Gary was an active member and served in various capacities at the Peetz United Methodist Church. Gary served on the Peetz Telephone Co-Op Board and the Peetz Fire Protection Board. Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, attending his grandchildren's activities and his family.

He is survived by his wife NaDean Meier of Sterling; sons Steve Meier and wife Terri of Sterling, Rick Meier and wife Mindy of Peetz, Bryan Meier and wife Lisa of Albany, Ore.; grandchildren Lyndsey and Travis King, Austin and Kendall Meier, Morgan and Mackenzi Meier, Ashley and Erica Meier; siblings Al Meier and wife Martha of Larkspur, Colo., Merrylee Williams of Pueblo and sister-in-law Annette Meier of Sidney. He is also survived by in-laws including Sandie Kerr and Jack Hume of Peetz, Mike and Kathy Bules of Peetz and Jan Rockwell of Highlands Ranch, Colo.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Merna Meier, infant son Terry Meier and brother Merv Meier.
