Court Briefs 05-07-15

The following people appeared in Cheyenne County Court on Tuesday, May 5, before the Honorable Randin Roland:

Bryan Red Bear, 28, of Sidney, had a Preliminary Hearing on charges of DUI – Causing Serious Bodily Injury, Second Degree Assault, and Operating a Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest. The court found that it appeared that the offenses were committed and that there is probable cause to believe that the defendant committed them. Arraignment was scheduled for May 6.

Johnny Creekpaum, 42, of Sterling, Colo., had a Preliminary Hearing on a charge of Violation of Domestic Protection Order, a Class IV felony. A Sidney Police Officer testified. The court found that it appeared that the offense was committed and that there was probable cause to believe that the defendant committed it. Arraignment was scheduled for May 6.

The following people appeared in Cheyenne County District Court on Wednesday, May 6, before the Honorable Derek Weimer:

Julian Salinas, 21, of Sidney, appeared for a status hearing on a charge of Possession of Meth, a Class IV felony. Pursuant to a plea agreement, he pleaded guilty to an amended charge of Attempted Possession of Meth, a Class I misdemeanor. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered. Sentencing is set for June 9 at 9:3 a.m.

Barbara Nettles, 57, of Sidney, appeared for a status hearing on a charge of Attempted 1st Degree Assault on a Police Officer, a Class II felony. Pursuant to a plea agreement, she pleaded guilty to an amended charge of 3rd Degree Assault, a Class I misdemeanor. She received 12 months bench probation.

Stanley Russell, 48, of Sidney, appeared for a status hearing on a charge of DUI 4 High Test and Driving on a Revoked License, a Class III and IV felony; respectively. Another status hearing has been scheduled for June 9 at 10 a.m.

Joseph Medina, 39, of Sidney, appeared for sentencing on a charge of Attempted Possession of Meth, a Class I misdemeanor. He received 24 months probation.

Ronny Murphy, 38 of Bayard, appeared for sentencing on a charge of Attempted Possession of Meth, a Class I misdemeanor. He received 90 days in the county jail with credit for 18 days.

Rachel Jacobs, 28, of Peetz, Colo., (formerly of Sidney) appeared for sentencing on a charge of Theft, a Class I misdemeanor. She received 12 months in the county jail with credit for 12 days.

James Daily, 35, of Sidney, appeared for arraignment on a charge of Possession of Meth, a class IV felony. He pled not guilty and requested counsel. A status hearing was set for June 9 at 10 a.m.

Gabriel Martinez, 50, of Longmont, Colo., was charged with Distributing Child Pornography, a Class ID felony. A preliminary Hearing was held Wednesday. The court found that the evidence presented makes it appear that the crime was committed and that the defendant committed it. The defendant was ordered to appear for arraignment in Cheyenne County District Court on July 1 at 9 a.m.

Emmanuel Alan Cabello, 30, of Alliance, was sentenced to serve 24-48 months’ imprisonment for Attempted Possession of Methamphetamine With Intent to Deliver or Distribute, a Class III felony.

Johnny Creekpaum, 42, of Sterling, Colo., appeared for Arraignment on the charge of Violation of Domestic Violence Protection Order, a Class IV felony. A status hearing is scheduled for June 9 at 9 a.m.
