Creek Valley golfers shoot season-best score, take 4th

The Creek Valley Storm shot their lowest team total of the season in the Sutherland Invite at Oregon Trail Golf Course Tuesday on their way to a fourth-place finish.

Led by medalists Brett Godfrey (90) and Joe Van Winkle (91), the Storm finished with 374 strokes. Perkins County won the tournament with a 358 with the North Platte JV1 finishing second at 368 and Sutherland third with 372.

With the Sutherland Invite, the Storm had one final chance to tune up for districts which will be held this same venue on Monday.

In addition to Godfrey and Van Winkle, the Creek Valley scores included Austin Rowley with a 95, Wyatt McMillen with a 98 and Ben Cabela at 113. Though Cabela played a steady round for much of the day, he was bit by two bad holes that marred his scorecard. Van Winkle had the best nine holes of the day as he shot a 42 over the back. Oregon Trail Golf course is a nine-hole, par-36 layout which the competitors play twice.
