Summer road construction underway June 1

Pole Creek Crossing, Fort Sidney Road bridge work slated to begin

Summer road construction season is around the corner and will be slowing down parts of Sidney starting June 1.

According to the City of Sidney, upcoming construction of the Pole Creek Crossing and the Fort Sidney Road Bridge Project will begin.

During phase two of of the Pole Creek Crossing and the Fort Sidney Road Bridge Project, this will involved the construction of Pole Creek Crossing from Greenwood Road to Fort Sidney Road, the demolition and reconstruction of the Fort Sidney Road Bridge as well as reconstruction of the intersection of Fort Sidney Road and Pole Creek Crossing.

Phase one of the project will require the closure of Fort Sidney Road between Pole Creek Crossing, formerly known as Toledo Street and Virginia Lane during the demolition and renovations of the Fort Sidney Road Bridge. Access to these roads will be maintained at all times during this first phase of construction. This closure is anticipated to last from the beginning of June to October. The detour route to be used during this time will be Parkland Drive, 11th Avenue and Pole Creek Crossing. These streets will be appropriately marked for easy navigation.

The Fort Sidney Road and Pole Creek Road intersection will remain open during Phase one construction but will have closures that may require detours during the later phases. The City of Sidney will continue to provide updates on the anticipated closures and alternative routes for the community.
