Stanley F. Spaeth

1931 to 2015


Stanley F. Spaeth passed peacefully, Sunday, May 17, 2015, in Sacramento, Calif. Visitation will be Mon., June 1, 2015 with family receiving friends from 11 a.m. until noon at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, Sterling, Colo. Graveside service to follow at 12:30 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery.

Stanley was born Aug. 29, 1931, in Sterling; the eldest of four brothers, born to Stanley E. Spaeth & Catherine Hale. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Stanley F. Spaeth Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia Spaeth, daughters; Virginia, Debbie. & Denise; eight grandchildren; Ryan, Clint, Brooke; Misty, Mathew, Miranda , Jayne, & Cody as well as eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Earl, of Sutherlin, Ore .; John of Peetz; and Robert Spaeth, of Lodgepole, numerous nieces & nephews & a host of friends.

Stan served in the 841st Engineer Battalion during the Korean War where he was awarded the Bronze Star for Bravery. He completed eight years in the Army Reserves retiring at the rank of Sgt. in 1962. Subsequently, he pursued a career with the Federal Government as a Heavy Equipment Crane Operator at the Sioux Army Depot, in Sidney. He transferred to the Sacramento Army Depot in 1964 where he retired in 1993, after forty-three years of service. During his career he received numerous Outstanding Job Performance Awards, ultimately retiring as a Quality Control Inspector.

Stan enjoyed family camping trips, water-skiing outings as well as gardening and spending time with his children, grandchildren, & friends; he will be sorely missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, request donations be made to the Salvation Army in Stan's honor.
