1918 to 2015

Evelyn M. Jensen, 96 of Sidney, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the Sidney Regional Medical Center Extended Care.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, July 1, in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Hall officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Tuesday from 1 to 7 p.m., with family present from 4 to 6 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made in Evelyn's name to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church or the Shriner's Children's Hospital.

Evelyn Marie Jensen was born in Fremont, Neb. on Sept. 4, 1918, the daughter of Ben and Tillie (Janssen) Hespen. She graduated from Fremont High School. Evelyn worked at a Hospital in Omaha and then for the Telephone Office in Fremont. On Oct. 4, 1950, she was united in marriage to Wesley E. Jensen at Omaha. They moved to Sidney and spent most of their married life on a farm and ranch just south of town. Evelyn was active in the Sidney Saddle Club, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, her card clubs, Eastern Star, BPOE Does and was a gracious hostess at her "lunch coffees".

She was actively involved the farm and ranch and she and Wes enjoyed traveling and visiting friends. Evelyn especially loved dancing.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband: Wes, her parents, her brothers: Dale and Richard, sister: Delores Trumbo, sisters-in-law: Dorothy Preston, Mary Lou Hespen, Bertha Jensen and Bernice Jensen; brothers-in-law: Slide Trumbo, Bob and Clifford Jensen and Cecil Preston. She is survived by sister-in-law: Shirley L. Jensen and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
