1920 to 2015

Anna K. Chlopek, 94 of Granite City, Ill. and former Sidney resident, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at the Granite City Skilled Nursing Home in Granite City.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 27, 2015 in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sidney.

Graveside inurnment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Anna's name to St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel to sign Anna's register book and drop off condolences for the family.

Anna was born on Nov. 4, 1920 in Iliff, Colo .; a daughter to the late Joseph and Anna K. (Krenz) Sommer. She was a lifelong homemaker and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City.

Anna is survived by and will be missed by her children, Kathy and (Kenneth) Gresham of Granite City, Ron and (LeeAnne) Chlopek of Edwardsville, Ill., Laurie Chlopek of Montana,

Michael and (Sandy) Chlopek of Riverdale, UT and Myrene England of Seattle, Wash., (10) grandchildren and (5) great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband, John Joseph Chlopek, whom she married on February 6, 1945. (2): brothers, George and John (5) sisters, Apalonia "Helen", Mary, Rose, Margaret, Regina "Irene", Salmina "Sally" and Josephine.
