Roland F. Musil

1922 to 2015

Roland F. Musil, 93, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on July 26, 2015 in Seguin, TX.

Rol was born in Dodge, Neb. on May 3, 1922 to Adella (Mlnarik) and Joseph Musil. He was the youngest son of four siblings: Millard, Lumir and Norma who all precede him in death. Rol's beloved wife, Betty, died in February 2008.

Roland attended Potter Public School (Nebraska) until the 8th grade. He began farming north of Potter raising wheat, corn, pinto beans and millet.

He met his wife, Betty, at a dance and they were married at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sidney on Sept. 6, 1943 where he was a 60 year member of the Knights of Columbus and a Charter member of the Sidney Elks Club.

In 1996 they retired and moved to Rockport, TX before settling in Seguin, TX in 2007. Roland enjoyed tinkering with equipment and motors of all kinds, welding yard animals, and fishing. Rol was a kind and generous person helping anyone who needed help.

Roland will be missed greatly by his four children; Deanie and husband Dan Knight of Seguin, TX, Dick and wife Peg Musil of Potter, Donna and husband John Furin of Bedford, TX, and Dina and husband Channing Cox of Topeka, Kan. His grandchildren include: Brennen and Michele Knight, Todd and Kathie Knight, Shelly (Knight) and Chuck Cameron, Tanya (Musil) and Kirk Hood, Janelle (Musil) and Matthew Armstrong, step-grandchildren Chris and Sharyn Cox, and Stacy (Cox) and Rob Joly, Kirsten, Kyle, and Paige Furin.

His great-grandchildren are Savannah, Sidney, Sierra, Summer and Sunny Knight, Hayley and Jacob Knight, Skyler and Ian Osborne, Dylan and Hannah Hood, Charles and Thomas Armstrong, step-great-grandchildren Evan and Elizabeth Cox, Mackenzie, Nathan and Hannah Joly, and Kapri Furin; as well as sisters-in-law Madeline Musil of Kimball and Barbara Hockerson of Windsor, Calif .; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial mass services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 10 at St. James Catholic Church in Seguin, TX, Msgr. Dennis Darilek and Rev. Greg Nevlud officiating. The rosary will precede the mass. Inurnment will take place in Potter at a later date. Tres Hewell Mortuary in Seguin is in charge of arrangements.
