Former Sidney teacher Holloway celebrates 101st birthday

Dorothy Holloway celebrated her 101st birthday with family and friends Monday afternoon. From left is Holloway's daughter, Ann Merrick and Holloway.

Sidney resident and long-time Sidney High School English teacher Dorothy Holloway celebrated her 101st birthday with family and friends Monday afternoon.

Although Holloway is originally from Wyoming, she has made a lasting mark in Sidney and in the Sidney Public Schools, where she taught for 30 years.

She also became an everlasting part of Sidney High when a drawing of her horse was selected for the school's new Red Raider logo in 1967. A picture was taken of her riding her American Saddlebred mare named "Sea Treasure," which was used as a model for the hand-drawn entry of the new mascot a...
