High Plains P.A.W. helps grant 'wish' for new dog

Birmingham made Sidney-to-Washington trip to find home with ill girl

Chloe Cheneby, a 13-year-old battling a life-threatening metabolic disorder in Washington, fell in love with Birmingham, a 6-month-old Golden Retriever, Gordon Setter and Bernese Mountain Dog mix.

The only problem: Birmingham was at the High Plains P.AW. (People for Animal Welfare) shelter in Sidney.

Sybil Prosser, the president of High Plains P.A.W., said she was contacted by the girl's mother, Kim Krasne, about adopting the puppy two months ago.
