As part of Thursday's dedication ceremony, several of Don Winkelman's family members were on hand, including, from left: Lance Juelfs, Connie Winkelman, Colleen McKay and Lori Wolff.
The Nebraska Rural Electric Association's Job Training and Safety Coordinator Bob Cooper, along with the Wheat Belt Public Power District, held a dedication ceremony in memory of Don Winkelman on Thursday at Wheat Belt's linemen training field north of Sidney.
Winkelman was an integral part of Wheat Belt's team for more than 42 years. He retired as operations manager in July 2003. He enjoyed his retirement until his passing on Oct. 31, 2011. Winkelman's tenacity and dedication to safety helped train many linemen throughout the area.
