Leyton volleyball opens with win over Garden Co.

Leyton High's Diedre Waite (No. 7) returns a ball during Thursday night's season-opening match.

The Leyton High Lady Warriors went on to the road to Garden County to open the 2015 volleyball season with a straight-set victory.

Leyton finished off the Lady Eagles with scores of 25-17, 25-10, 25-19.

The Warriors' hitters put in a strong performance as the senior trio of Kristine Barnett, Diedra Waite and Natalie Cruise paced the team with 10, nine and seven kills respectively. Waite also had four blocks and Cheyenne Nickel had three.

On defense, the Warriors had four players finish with double-digit digs. Barnett topped the list with 20, while Cruise had 15, Waite 12 and Hope Dykman 11...
