Sidney M.S. volleyball squads shine over weekend

All four of Sidney Middle School's volleyball teams played in the title match of their respective tournaments this past Saturday, with three of them winning championships.

Both the "A" and "B" seventh-grade teams won the Scottsbluff Invitational. The "A" team beat Ogallala, Gering and Chadron, while the "B" squad toppled Ogallala, Scottsbluff and Gering.

"A" team members included: Logan Holly, Ireland Smelley, Olivia Schneider, Karly Sylvester, Morgan Jaggers, Lydia Mitlener, Ashlee Ringleman and Aleigha Wachtel. They are coached by Jack Thorpe.

The "B" team was comprised of: Miranda Ahrendt, Haley Williamson, Kaylee Eddy, Emma Paulsen, Alexis Juengst, Mhghna Krishna, Peyton Lewis, Reece Stanley, Felicity Beyer and Delanie Namuth. The coach is Karson Dingman.

At the Sidney Invitational, Sidney's "A" team won the championship by defeating Torrington (Wyo.), Alliance and Ogallala. The "B" team turned back Torrington and Gering, before falling to Sterling (Colo.) in the title match.

Sidney "A" team members are: Nicole Birner, Taylor Dormann, Mattie Johnson, Kendra Nesbitt, Madyson Johnstone, Sarah Wamsley, Mason Nightingale and Lauren Jones. They are coached by Barb Snyder.

The "B" team included: Jaylee Shaw, Karsyn Huck, McKenna Bergstrom, Shayla Schilz, Jacee Drapal, Lani Kuhns, Josie Dowse and Madi Nielsen. Judi Roach is the coach.
