The Cheyenne County 4-H Clover Kid’s will begin meeting monthly starting in October from 3:45-5 p.m. Meetings will be held in three locations this year – Potter, Sidney and Gurley. The program is for children ages 5 to 7. Participants will experience, prepare and consume foods from the different groups, learn about money and deciding what is a want or need, make projects that can be entered in the County Fair and many other activities. Cancer survivor support group meets every SECOND Thursday from 5:30-7 p.m. at Dorwart Cancer Care Center. Great topics/food/fellowship. Call Leslie at (308) 250-1113 with questions.

The Farmer’s Market is held on Saturdays through Oct. 10

Friday, Sept. 25

Pairs-N-Half-A-Pair Square Dance Club will have a Hee Haw Dance at the IOOF Hall from 7 to 9 p.m. with Lucky calling. We will have PLUS dancing from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Come dressed in Hee Haw if you like.

Sunday, Sept. 27

The Senior Citizen & Friends Dance has been CANCELED for this Sunday, Sept. 27 due to the Czech dance in Lodgepole. The Panhandle Czech Heritage Day will be held at the Lodgepole Community Hall (1 block north of Highway 30) in Lodgepole from noon to 5 p.m. Bring two covered dish meals and your own tableware. Dance all afternoon to Jim Ehrlich – A One Man Band!

Pairs-N-Half-A-Pair Square Dance Club will have a dance in the old 4-H building in Kimball from 4-6 p.m. Mike Hogan, a national caller, will have rounds from 3:30-4 p.m.

A total lunar eclipse viewing event will be held Sunday, Sept. 27 at 6:45 p.m. at Ash Hollow State Historical Park. Bring your own chair, binoculars, blankets and dress warm. You may also bring a snack to share. The eclipse will start at 7:07 p.m., the total eclipse occurs at 8:47 p.m., and will end by 10:27 p.m. Doug Wolford, an amateur astronomer from Big Springs, is bringing his telescope and will offer close ups of the moon and stars. A small donation is asked to help cover the cost of him bringing it.

Tuesday, Sept. 29

Come Travel With Us Alliance Travelers invites you to a covered dish luncheon on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at noon held at the First Presbyterian Church, 515 Emerson Avenue, Alliance, NE 69301.

Oct. 2-8

The annual Yuma (Colo.) Arts Association Show, Exhibit and Sale will be held Oct. 2-8 at the First Presbyterian Church in Yuma. Anyone can enter art as long as it is ready to display or as a 3-D piece for a table or the floor. You may bring up to 10 additional items to sell. Enter from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 2 at the Presbyterian Church, 110 W. 4th Ave., Yuma. The annual Oktoberfest festivities will be held in Sidney over the weekend of Oct. 2-4. There is continuous free entertainment in the tent at the Cheyenne Fairgrounds, a beer garden, ethnic food, craft show, downtown parade, farmer’s market, live dance bands Friday and Saturday, a car show and wiener dog races.

Saturday, Oct. 3

Sprenger Financial Solutions/New York Life are holding a fundraising breakfast at 6:30 a.m. through the Oktoberfest parade on Saturday, Oct. 3, located at the Cabela’s South parking lot (Corner of 14th and Illinois). Breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, sausage and beverage. Proceeds go to the Cheyenne County Pavilion Fund.
