Kathryn G. Rasmussen – 1923 to 2015

Kathryn G Rasmussen, 91 of Kimball, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015 at the Kimball County Manor.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Sept. 28, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Methodist Church in Kimball, with Pastor Carla Gunn officiating. Interment followed at the Kimball Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Cantrell Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given in Kathryn's name to Prairie Haven Hospice or the Kimball Senior Citizens Center. The services for Kathryn have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball.

Kathryn Rasmussen was born to Carrie and Charles Petersen November 6, 1923 in Cheyenne, Wyo. Her mother, brother Wayne and she lived with her grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Glassburn, ten miles west of Lorenzo and ½ mile south.

She attended District 10 School through the 9th grade. Entering into Sidney High School she worked for her board & room. She graduated from High School in 1942. Kathryn married Frank Rasmussen July 4, 1942 at Potter Methodist Church.

They lived on a farm near Sunol for a few years, moving North East of Kimball to farm in 1948. Their home was always open to many friends of their children. They even had one that came to play and never left. They moved into town in 1990.

Kathryn worked at the Flower Haven and Hartung's/LorRon's until she retired. She was an excellent seamstress and made many clothes for her entire family. She was active with the Senior Center Quilting Group. She was honored as the Farmers Day Homemaker of the Year in 2009.

She is survived by her daughters, Rita (Wayne) Wagner of Saratoga, Wyoming, Barbara Barker of Kimball, son Allen (Connie) Rasmussen of Chadron, daughter-in-law Cindy Rasmussen of Kimball; 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, son Lee Rasmussen, granddaughter Kerry Barker, son-in-law Gary Barker, mother Carrie and step father Dave Ruhter, father Charles Petersen and brother Wayne Petersen.
