Peetz whips Briggsdale in Homecoming game

The Peetz High School football team had little trouble cruising to a Homecoming victory on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a big first-half lead and sailed to a 64-8 win over Briggsdale. Both teams are now 3-3.

Peetz quarterback Wolf Wenneker completed 7 of his 11 passes for 200 yards and three touchdowns. Backup QB Zach Holtz also threw a TD pass.

Jordan Nelson led the Bulldogs' ground game with 111 yards on 14 carries. He ran for two scores and also returned a kickoff 66 yards for another TD.

Cody Wilson ran for 46 yards and a TD and Garrix Cox added 30 yards and a TD.

Wilson, Cox and Bryson Long all caught TD passes as well.

Helmuch Wenneker had a team-high eight tackles and picked off a pass. Wolf Wenneker, Long and Wilson had five tackles apiece with Wilson interecpting a pair of Briggsdale passes.

The Bulldogs opened up a 25-8 lead after the opening quarter and extended it to 43-8 by the intermission. They added three more second-half TDs to settle the issue.

The Bulldogs are back in action Friday when they travel to Pawnee at 7 p.m.
