1930 to 2015

Mario N. Nebarez, 85 of Sidney, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015 at the Sidney Regional Medical Center Extended Care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 17 with Father Jim Heithoff officiating. Wake Services will be at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 16. Both services will be in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Mario's name to the National Parkinson's Foundation.

Mario N. Nebarez was born on April 6, 1930 in Chihuahua, Mexico. He came to the United States and worked in Bridgeport. While living in Bridgeport, he met Teresa Gutierrez and they married on April 7, 1952 at Bridgeport. They moved to Guernsey, Wyo., where he started working for the Burlington Northern Railroad and later started a family of six children. He was transferred to Sidney in 1965 where he continued working until his retirement in 1980.

In his spare time, Mario enjoyed fishing, playing pool, gardening, playing cards, listening to any kind of Mexican music and watching his favorite baseball team, the Atlanta Braves. Mario was blessed with (13) grandchildren, (26) great-grandchildren and numerous family and friends in Scottsbluff and Sidney.

Mario is survived by his children: Ernie Nebarez and wife Carol of Sidney, Mary Ann Taylor formerly of Sidney, Marti Stevens of Sidney, Carmen Carrillo and husband George of Denver, and Gloria Nebarez also of Denver.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife: Teresa Trowbridge, his second wife: Irene Nebarez, his daughter: Leslie Lucero and a sister: Lupe' Nebarez.

The children in Mario's life will always remember how he had pockets full of candy that he handed out with a smile.
