Peetz rolls to victory

'Dogs top Weldon Valley, 55-13

PEETZ, Colo. – The Peetz High football team got off to a fast start on Friday night en route to a 55-13 victory over Weldon Valley.

The Bulldogs (5-3) opened up a 49-0 lead by halftime and never were challenged. Weldon Valley finished the year 1-7.

Peetz's Cody Wilson carried the ball three times for 98 yards and scored touchdowns on each of those three touches. He also had 10 tackles on defense.

Teammate Jordan Nelson ran the ball nine times for 100 yards. He also returned a punt for a touchdown. Bryson Long and Zach Holtz each had touchdown catches for the Bulldogs

James Ommen added a rushing touchdown for Peetz and Helmuth Wenneker had a rushing TD and 11 tackles on defense.

The Bulldogs are the No. 10 seed in this week's Colorado 6-man cross-divisional playoff game on Saturday.

They'll take to the road to square off against No. 7-seeded Cheraw (6-2) – located about three and a half hours south of Sterling. The game time will be announced by Tuesday.

The eight winners of those games are then reseeded and advance to the state quarterfinals the following week.
