Gamble wins grand champion artist in Wheat Belt contest

A Leyton Public Schools third grader won the grand champion artist award in the Wheat Belt cover page contest.

Shawnee Gamble received the honor and the artwork will be displayed on the cover of the Wheat Belt connection insert in December. The reserve champion artist was Axi Benish. First place winner went to Logan Bartling, and Abriell Steffens took the honorable mention slot.  All four drawings will be printed in the December issue.

“We are very pleased with the participation from the kids, and enjoyed all their drawings,” Wheat Belt said in a press release. “We appreciate the extra effort the teachers expend in this type of project. Wheat Belt had nearly 50 drawings entered this year.”

As a reward for their efforts, each winner’s class will be treated to a movie and treats, and the winners themselves will receive something special for their achievements.

Area elementary students were invited to participate in a Christmas cover page art contest. A class party sponsored by Wheat Belt for the winning entries will be scheduled at the teacher’s discretion. The winning entries will be published in the Wheat Belt insert portion of the Rural Electric Nebraskan magazine that is delivered to approximately 2,500 Wheat Belt customers throughout five counties.
