Peetz girls start at 1-1 after Carlile

The Peetz Lady Bulldogs took a win and a loss over the weekend on their home court at the Carlile Classic tournament, beating the Gering Lady Bulldogs, 37-33, before falling to Caliche in a tough 46-39 loss.

It seemed like Peetz’s Mikenna Curlee could do no wrong against the Gering JV squad as she put together a 20-point performance. She also shot 2-of-5 from the line and led the team with six rebounds.

The second half was where the Peetz girls shined, however; the Gering JV squad actually led at the halftime break, going up on Peetz, 17-15.

After the break, Curlee, along with Jodie Schumacher (13 points, five rebounds) turned up the heat and helped lead Peetz to a 22-point second half.

Caliche 46, Peetz 39

In Saturday’s game against Caliche, the Lady Bulldogs kept it close until the fourth period, never trailing the Lady Buffaloes by more than four points during the first three periods.
