WNCC-Sidney students donate blankets

Students at the Western Nebraska Community College-Sidney Campus recently donated blankets to long term care facilities in the area, which included living centers and nursing homes.

Five years ago, WNCC-Sidney Campus personnel decided they wanted to give back to its service area, according to campus director Paula Abbott.

"We decided to create something together and then donate the items to the communities we serve," she said. "WNCC purchases the fleece blanket kits, Shirt Tales of Sidney embroiders our logo, and then students, staff and faculty help cut and tie the blankets. Once that is completed, Student Services Coordinator Erin Huddleston and a group of students go to the seven local long-term care facilities in our service area and give the blankets to residents of the facilities. It is wonderful to see the resident's faces light up when you give them this blanket."

The students presented the blankets to facilities in Sidney, Chappell, Oshkosh, Kimball and Bridgeport.
