Winter weather arrives in Cheyenne County

Storm warning issued for region

 

While the official start of winter is still a week away, snow, dropping temperatures and wind is in the forecast this week.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Cheyenne County – and the region – effective Tuesday morning through Wednesday evening.

"It looks like the southern Panhandle is probably the area most under the gun with the storm system," said Jerry Claycomb, lead forecaster at the National Weather Service office in Cheyenne.

The storm will also track into northeastern Colorado and northwestern Kansas.

"It's a very favorable position for the south...
