Leyton Lady Warriors stay perfect at 4-0

The Leyton Lady Warriors remain perfect at 4-0 (1-0 league) after beating the South Platte Lady Blue Knights on Friday, 36-22.

The win puts Leyton firmly atop the D1-12 standings as the only unbeaten team remaining remain in the district.

The game was a seesaw battle for both teams as Leyton went down 7-2 in the first period. The Lady Warriors bounced back in the second period on a 10-point run and entered the locker room up, 12-8, at the half.

South Platte managed to outshoot Leyton 11-9 in the the third, but the Lady Warriors turned up the heat in the fourth, going on a 15-3 tear that ensured the win.

The duo of Abbe Draper and Jessica Houk each tallied nine points for Leyton, with Houk and Natalie Cruise each dropping three-pointers.

Houk also went 4-for-4 from line.

Junior Taylor Berner was the defensive powerhouse with nine rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Cruise added seven points in the win, and Berner tallied up five of her own. Diedra Waite penciled in four points, while Katie Higgins added two.

The Lady Warriors will play at Potter-Dix tomorrow starting at 5 p.m.
