No Till notes: 'Merry Christmas!'

I would like to start by wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas! I hope everyone is surrounded by family and friends to share in the holiday season together. This is a truly wonderful time of the year!

There is an educational opportunity for everyone interested in no-till crop production practices that is easy to use and is generated via email across our state. Once you belong to the listserv.unl.edu, you are able to post an email on any topic you are interested in discussing about no-till crop production. Your email goes out across the state to other producers, UNL extension, NRCS offices and agribusiness on the listserv that are then able to respond to your topic of discussion.

I am on this email service and I find it very interesting to read about and occasionally respond to other producers concerns regarding no-till crop production. What I have observed over time is that the producers from the eastern and central part of the state appear to use this information service more than producers in our region.

There is a wealth of knowledge available at your fingertips by simply sending an email with your questions or concerns. The email is then sent out to everyone on the listserv and those individuals respond to your inquiry if they feel they can help you with your topic of discussion.

The responses are shared with everyone on the listserv so everyone benefits from reading through the responses. I have learned more about topics such as fertility for corn, soil health, herbicides and other broad ranging topics by simply reading through the responses.

This educational service is completely voluntary and you can register for this service by sending an email to listserv.unl.edu. Don’t put anything in the subject line of the email. In the message portion of the email simply put SUBSCRIBE NO-TILL (your name). Do not put anything else in the email. This is computer generated and the computer won’t respond to any other command. The computer will automatically begin sending no-till listserv emails to the address you emailed from.

This service does not send any junk mail or sell any of the email addresses generated. This is simply a way for no-till producers across the state to communicate with each other and other educators on a variety of topics and concerns regarding no-till crop production practices.

If after signing up for the service you decide you would like your email removed from the service you can do so at any time. To unsubscribe from the service you go to listserv.unl.edu and in the message box type UNSUBSCRIBE NO-TILL and your email address will be removed from the service.

If you have any other questions or concerns about the listserv you can contact Paul Jasa, UNL extension, at [email protected]. I hope you will consider signing up for this listserv and use it as a means to have any questions or concerns you may have concerning no-till crop production answered by other producers and educators from across the state. This service is really about people helping others with their no-till production concerns.

Merry Christmas!
